Outstanding SC nominations on

Nomination forms for this year’s Outstanding Senior Citizen Achiever’s Award (OSCAA) are available at the City Social Welfare and Development Office, Upper Session road.

This is in line with this year’s theme for the elderly month celebration, “Kilalanin at Parangalan, Tagapagsulong ng Kaparatan ng Nakatatanda tungo sa Lipunang Mapagkalinga.”

The outstanding senior citizens’ awards are in four categories: Community Service, Leadership, Resource Generation and Huwarang Nakatatanda, wherein the nominee should be 60 years old and above, a Baguio resident for 10 years, and member of any Baguio city-based senior citizen association.

The nominees are screened as to educational data, job history, personal qualities and character traits, achievement/accomplishments, community involvement and service, and awards received. Said supporting documents should be submitted with an endorsement by the president of the SC organization where they belong.

For the community service award, nominees must have rendered commendable service for the upliftment of most senior citizens at the barangay, or city; without any wages or salary received for said services.

The leadership award nominee should have been a leader for three years serving the SC through an association, and should have an achievement award for accomplished plans for his/her group. Effective management should be applied, such that leading his group is done without any other ulterior motive.

For the resource generation award, projects for the development and enhancement of senior citizens and community should have been funded through the leadership of the nominee. No ulterior motive, other than to help co-senior citizens should be evident in this award category.

The Huwarang Nakatatanda nominee should be a consistent supporter of SC programs and services, but not one who is multi-awarded or well-known. He should have accomplished or initiated projects for SCs without expecting any reward, and not nominated by family or relatives but by the organization or groups they have served

An accomplished nominee information sheet, with a letter of endorsement from the SC association where nominee is affiliated, is accepted at the CSWD office until 5PM, Sept. 14, only.

Self nomination is not accepted, it was known, and there should only one nominee in a family.

A plaque of recognition and P1,000 cash prize shall be given to the awardees, the day and venue of awards to be announced at a later  date. –juliegfianza with reports from the CSWD office.
