Harrison experimental traffic scheme starts April 22
A traffic experiment involving Harrison Road will be implemented starting April 22 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Mayor Mauricio Domogan in Administrative Order No. 44 said they found merit to the experimental scheme broached by civil engineering students of St. Louis University and endorsed by SLU Professor Dr. Mark De Guzman, a member of the mayor-led Traffic and Transportation Management Committee (TTMC).
“Upon consideration and finding merits of the proposed experimental scheme by the Civil Engineering students of St. Louis University and to improve the traffic flow along Harrison Road, the request is here approved,” the mayor said.
The scheme bans parking along outermost lane along the road particularly from corner Tiongsan Harrison (Perfecto St.-Harrison Road) towards corner Baguio Patriotic High School (Calderon St/66th Infantry Loop-Harrison Road).
The stretch from corner Tiongsan Harrison (Perfecto St.-Harrison Road) to corner Lower Mabini St.-Harrison Road will serve as designated pick-up and drop-off point along outermost lane along Harrison Road only.
The designated loading and unloading zones along outermost lane along Harrison Road will be from corner BPI Baguio Burnham Branch (Lower Mabini St.- Harrison Road) towards corner T. Claudio St.-Harrison Road; and from corner T. Claudio St.-Harrison Road towards corner Baguio Patriotic High School (Calderon St./66th Infantry Loop-Harrison Road).
Parking will not be allowed at pedestrian corssings and intersections along the road.
The mayor tasked the City Engineering Office Traffic and Transportation Management Division and the SLU School of Engineering and Architecture Department of Engineering to prepare and install appropriate traffic signages to guide the public.
The Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Baguio City Police Office will enforce the order.
For smooth implementation, the mayor also allowed minor traffic adjustments to the experimental scheme as may be determined by the implementing authorities. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
