Brahma Kumaris to lead climate change forum

The Brahma Kumaris Environment Initiative will lead a free Seminar-Forum on “The Urgency of Climate Change: Stepping Up Our Resilience Strategies”, on Monday afternoon, July 31 at the Baguio City multi-purpose hall.

The special guest speaker on the said forum will be Golo Joachim Pilz who is one of the prime movers and founding members of the BK Environment Initiative Program.

Highlighting the forum will be issues on protecting our environment; global justice, equity and sustainability; ethics at the heart of climate change; role of ethics and human awareness in climate change solutions; transition to innovative and clean technology demands a new mindset, among others.

The public are urged to participate in the said event considering that the city of Baguio is not excused in experiencing the effects of climate change. Climate change is a wake-up call to each of us to be more conscious in choosing sustainable lifestyles.

In a letter invitation of Brahma Kumaris Philippine Spiritual Foundation, Inc. Baguio Center coordinator Salud Idio, “their organization believes that to make this earth a better place, it needs more than just using renewable technologies or creating strategies. Policies and strategies have to be reinforced with an inner change, a change in consciousness”.

Accordingly, for the Brahma Kumaris environment initiative, the program is anchored on meditation in the promotion of respect for nature and all living beings; self-empowerment changes habits; cooperation - sharing inner and outer resources; a compassionate diet for a healthier lifestyle; and simplicity in life.

The BK is a non-sectarian, non-governmental organization which welcomes people from all walks of life, and of any religion, race or creed. Through meditation, they seek to help people rediscover goodness from within and encourage the development of spiritual awareness, attitude, and behavior. *Jho Arranz
