City’s brand new trucks ready for action

BAGUIO CITY – the needed muscle for the city’s top performers, the garbage collectors has finally arrived in this mountain resort.
Mayor Mauricio Domogan and City General Services Officer Romeo Concio personally received from representatives of Hino Philippines four brand new dump trucks to augment the trucks which are presently in operation.
Currently, there are thirteen dump trucks making the rounds in collecting the city’s waste which is short from the ideal twenty five needed to effectively boost collections.
Domogan said, ‘the newly acquired Hino 500 series trucks will be operating within the city primarily only for collection to address the increasing volume of garbage from the city’s 128 barangays’.
The city was able to purchase said trucks for 3.77 million each or a total value of 15,080,00.00 million for four trucks from Pilipinas Hino, Inc. a joint venture corporation among Filipino investors, Hino Motors, Ltd. And Marubeni Corporation of Japan and a participant in the Government Commercial Vehicle Development Program (CVDP).
‘The trucks will definitely improve the city’s collection efficiency but I still encourage our barangay officials to strictly enforce waste segregation at source and continue to inform their constituents to bring out their garbage only during collection time’, Domogan said.
‘The new trucks have been purchased to help in our effort to manage our waste but we still need cooperation and discipline so everything will go smoothly’, He said.
Presently, there are two types of garbage trucks collecting waste categorized as bio-degradable and non-biodegradable as per two-truck policy of the city.
The 3.77 m price of the truck includes taxes, insurance, delivery and supply of spare parts.
Meantime, two sets of loaders are also scheduled to be delivered anytime this month which costs 1.65 million each or a total of 3.3 million from Sunbear Loaders (Daeshin Hi-sys company, Ltd., South Korea.
The loaders will also be used to augment the existing garbage trucks of the city for waste transfer, rehabilitation of the Irisan Controlled Dump Facility and other city needs.
Domogan said, ‘his preference for new equipment is anchored on the fact that they are covered by warranty and is guaranteed by the supplier to work according to specifications’.
The new trucks are already registered and ready to be used. ***paul rillorta
